In the studio...
1015: 10.14.2008 | Current track in production:
1015 is another song I started a long time ago and have
since revisited. I have been going through my old production and cleaning
up dead end projects but 1015 caught my ear again so I started reworking it.
I redid the baseline, the old mono sample I recorded from the Moog originally
out of tune and I could not get it to work with other samples. I ended up
layering the new baseline with an analog and digital sample to create some
texture. I added a different kick and have some light compression to give it
a snap to cut through the bass and work more with that digital bass sample.
I am cutting the lows at 40kHz and some 60kHz and added some pads from
the CS-80v to fill the 6-8000kHz range to add some balance. It seems to
be working out pretty well in the short rebirth of this track. I bounced
a ruff master for listening purposes but the track still needs some fine
tuning. It's coming along and I hope to finish it this weekend.
The Simple Things:
I made this song last winter on a cold Chicago morning just after we
got some snow. I remember standing outside having a smoke and a cup
of coffee watching scattered snow flakes slowly fall to the ground.
I never got back to finishing this track but I like the simplicity of it
and might revisit the project to work on the mechanics of the sounds.
Get Lost:
This track reminds me of walking downtown Chicago just before sunrise
on my way to work shuffling through Apex Twin's ambient works on my mp3
player while I freeze my ass off drinking my mocha.
In a Different Place:
I think the whole reason this track got made was because I was trying
to create some delay patches for my H7600. I ran my Evolver and
Jupiter 8 through the Eventide in order to fine tune the presets.
It turned into a song somehow and I never finished it. It's kind of
bubble-gummy but I like the Jupiter pads and little quarks. Again,
like the other tracks it reminds me of this time of year.
In a Different Time:
Some more raw analog sounds, it sounded like it was a nice day for the Jupiter.
The weather effects the keyboard, well it seems that way to me anyways.
I managed to record some rich dirty sounds and started to organize them but
in the end another unfinished track I forgot about. |
